Alice Major, Edmonton’s first poet laureate, reveals the epic and fantastical side of office politics and food court gossip. Drawing inspiration from Canterbury Tales, the stories of Aphrodite, Pandora and Sheherazad encourage us to look closer at the woman in the next cubicle.

“They are delicious short stories in verse, some funny, some mystical, some poignant, some edged with social satire… To be sure there is an undeniable magic in seeing Edmonton streets and food courts metamorphosed into the stuff of poetry, in seeing our city pierced to its roots by a poet’s discerning eye.”
Paula Simons, Edmonton Journal, April 26, 2008
